Curriculum
Content
Foundations of Medical Science (12 weeks decelerated)
Biochemistry, Human Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Oncology, Pathology, Pharmacology
In our decelerated version of Foundations of Medicine, we will review the molecular bases of life and prepare for further studies. During this course, students will become familiar with 6 fundamental disciplines; biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, genetics, pathology, oncology and basic pharmacology. In addition, they will learn skills that will help them solve clinical case studies and answer NBME exam questions to ensure their success in both our Medical Program and when taking the USMLE exams.
Attack and Defense (7 weeks)
Immunology & Microbiology (Cellular basis of the Immune Response, Immunologic Mediators, Pathogens and infectious diseases)
In our pre-Attack and Defense module, students will learn the basis of Immunology and Microbiology. Students will gain understanding in the molecular and cellular mechanisms that determine how the human body defends itself from infectious diseases and how pathogens overcome our defenses to cause infection. In addition, our module will focus on bacterial and viral genetics, and will include an overview of basic diagnostic tools for bacteria, virus and fungus identification.
Conclusion of:
Prep Program
Upon successful completion of the Prep Program, students will be offered a $15,000 scholarship for the first term of studies in the 4 Year
MD Program (in addition to other scholarships for which you may be eligible based on performance in the Prep Program), their New Student Welcome Packet, and be connected with the Financial Aid Office and Student Support Services.
If students do not pass the exams and therefore fail the program, the $1,000 tuition will be refunded.

Option 1: Aug 5, 2024 – Dec 13, 2024
Successful completion of the program to begin in the January 2025 cohort.
Option 2: Jan 13, 2025 – May 23, 2025
Successful completion of the program to begin in the August 2025 cohort.
Location: This program is held on-campus at ACSOM in Dominica.

- Provide Academic Transcripts: Send us your bachelor’s degree transcripts. These documents are crucial for evaluating your academic background and readiness for the program.
- Personal Statement: Share your motivation and aspirations for becoming a doctor in a personal statement. This is your chance to tell us about your passion for medicine and your career goals.
- Interview: Participate in an interview with our admissions team. This step allows us to get to know you better and discuss how our program can help you achieve your dreams.
